  3.           This means that, far from being merely minor works 
  4.      of art, prints are among the most important and powerful 
  5.      tools of modern life and thought. Certainly we cannot 
  6.      hope to realize their actual role unless we get away from 
  7.      the snobbery of modern print collecting notions and 
  8.      definitions and begin to think of them as exactly 
  9.      repeatable pictorial statements or communications, 
  10.      without regard to the accident of rarity or what for the 
  11.      moment we may regard as aesthetic merit. We must look 
  12.      at them from the point of view of general ideas and 
  13.      particular functions, and, especially, we must think about 
  14.      the limitations which their techniques have imposed on 
  15.      them as conveyors of information and on us as receivers 
  16.      of that information.
